Improve SEO to drive organic search results, redesign and implement the new design for Vitalize Acupuncture.
Vitalize Acupuncture and Wellness Clinic creates space for health and transformation living a life worth living. They provide acupuncture, chiropractic and massage care in a downtown Portland space that bridges medical office reputation with a spa feel.
How I Helped
When I first met Sarah of Vitalize Acupuncture, she wanted off Squarespace.
A few years ago they transitioned from Word Press to Squarespace and noticed a significant change in their organic search results. They also use a third party appointment booking software that allowed patience to skip their site altogether and book appointments on the booking software directly. A huge issue when you’re trying to measure conversions, site visits and search results.
When I learned more about Vitalize and their goals, I knew it was too soon to jump ship from Squarespace. A common misconception is that SEO is impossible with Squarespace and that’s simply not the case.
We devised a plan where we could make improvements to their current site without having to start over which had some great benefits for Sarah and the Vitalize team.
- Keeping costs low
- Using what resources they already have
- Realizing that the website wasn’t the root cause of their issues
We evaluated what tools Vitalize was already using and noticed that Square (their credit card processing tool) also had an appointment booking tool that could be embedded into the website.
As I took a look behind the scenes of their pages, I noticed their SEO wasn’t setup properly, causing a major drop in organic search.
We also noticed that the theme in Squarespace allowed for much more flexibility in the design of their site that wasn’t realized. When you first visited the home page, it required you to click on other links to get any sort of understand of who Vitalize is and what they do.
Remember, content is key!
The goals we set out to accomplish were:
- Transition to a new appointment booking tool, keeping patients on the website instead of someone else’s.
- Improve organic SEO results (anything is better than nothing)
- Add depth to the homepage (think scrolling down on a page) with quality content.
It’s still fairly early to see results of our changes, but we certainly have seen an uptick in patients on the site since they are no longer skipping to the third party booking site.
