Ensuring your Shopify business is included in local search results

By Ilana Davis

Getting your store to show up for local search results can be a valuable outcome, especially if you have a retail storefront.

Even if you don’t have a retail store and you’re a virtual store only, by including your location you still might pick up some additional local traffic.

You’ll want to make sure your address is on your site clearly. Common places to put it are on the About page, Contact page, or even in the footer.

You’ll also want to make sure your address is included in the structured data. This is added to the Organization section along with other information about your business.

Even if you don’t want your street address published, at least make sure to include your city and state or similar address. You won’t get a map or photos of your business in the search results, but you could get some local traffic.

JSON-LD for SEO automatically adds all of this for you, based on the address and business information all Shopify stores are required to have.
