I’ve been asking JSON-LD for SEO customers for more information about how the app has been helping their store.
What follows is a short case study from one store.
Any results may or may not be typical or what you can expect with your Shopify store. There are so many variables involved that it’s impossible to control for all of them.
Take what’s said below as a more detailed review of JSON-LD for SEO, combine it with the App Store reviews, your own personal experience and draw your own conclusions.
The one that I can definitely attribute to JSON-LD for SEO is the aforementioned improvement of our structured data that allowed our reviews to begin appearing in search results.
It’s tough to gauge how much of a part it’s played in upping our conversion rate and/or traffic, since we didn’t install it in a vacuum — we also advertise on Facebook, have a pretty robust automated email flow architecture via Klaviyo to combat customer defection and get cart & browse abandoners to come back and convert. But I do think the added trust factor of having our star rating appear next to search results has helped.
The trust factor and the improved search results are two of the key elements that Rich Results help with. That’s how they can boost traffic without any ranking changes, they attract more clicks then non-Rich Results.
Revenue increase, one month post-install: 103%
It also saved time (which as any business owner knows = money) and the inevitable frustration that fixing the data manually would have entailed.
Now, as I said, a lot of this is attributable to the performance of our Facebook ads bouncing back after a very poor showing from mid-June through July, but I do think JSON-LD for SEO played a part in the boost we got in terms of our conversions from organic traffic.
Matt attributes much of his revenue boost to the combination of Facebook ads, email marketing, and other things like JSON-LD for SEO.
It’s important to remember that attributing improvements to just one change is very difficult and near impossible without a ton of traffic (and a statistical calculator). But all of Matt’s metrics he shared are heading in the right direction which is getting a boost from the added trust.
And best of all are the changes this has helped his business:
Q: What does that mean for your business?
We treated staff to some high-end donuts.
No wait, that’s the wrong one… here we go:
Are discussing promoting one of our part-time employees to full-time, and possibly hiring an intern through a local college/university.
It always makes me happy when I’ve been able to contribute to a customer expanding or hiring more staff due to their successes.
Though I can’t promise the same results, JSON-LD for SEO has been successful for thousands of other Shopify stores. Shouldn’t yours be one?
